Yor’saj seems fairly complicated. Not sure if I can explain in just minutes but I will try my best.

The whole fight is about 3 adds, 3 oozes, they spawn from the edges of the room. You get to kill one and leave the other 2 reach the boss. You can only kill one. The other two oozes, when they reach Yor’saj they grant him special powers and abilities, based on the color of the oozes. The fight changes each time a set of adds reaches the boss. A lot depends on the raid leader in this fight, he has to decide which add to kill, at the same time it’s important for the rest of raid to know what the adds actually do so they know how to react and position themselves once a set reaches Yor’saj.

When picking which ooze to kill it’s more important to know what combinations will kill the raid rather then what are the ideal combinations. Let’s start with blue and purple. They both diminish healing in one way or another. Blue creates a Mana Void. When the Mana Void spawns it drains all the mana from your casters. Once you kill the Mana Void the Mana goes back to casters within 30 yards. Dealing with the mana void is easy, just kill it when it spawns, use some sort of mana regen abilities while it is being killied.

Purple affects healing the most, each heal or absorb places a debuff on the target. At 5 stacks the person explodes dealing raid wide damage. You don’t want your raid exploding left and right, so it’s best if healers can just use only massive, long cast heals, and have them 1 in each group. But the easiest and preferred way is to just kill the purple ooze.

Again both blue and purple affect healing, easy to remember if you think hospitals are blue, blue means healing, purple is kinda close to blue. Don’t let these 2 on the boss at the same time, kill purple.

Then we have Red and Green. Red means stay stacked. Green requires you to stay spread. Since healing and dealing with adds is better with staying grouped up we choose to kill green most of the time.

Again most importantly you don’t wanna see of blue purple or red green reaching the boss.

Black means adds, and it’s best to stack up and aoe them down, and you should be able to stack up if you’ve been killing green.

Yellow means increased overall damage taken, After green and purple, yellow is pretty high on the priority list. Its good to be able to stay stacked during yellow to be able to aoe heal.Use raide wide defensive cooldowns during yellow.

We made our boss kill with putting highest priority on killing green and purple, for heroic I’m sure more advanced strategies will be needed but for now this should suffice.

Ok quick quiz to solidify your knowledge : if you’ve got let’s say… blue — purple — green you kill ? Purple. Cus you don’t want purple and blue together. If you have green — red — yellow; you kill ? Green. Cus you wanna stack. black — blue — yellow you kill ? yellow, cus it’s more dangerous then blue, or black.

Extra Info:

Yellow is one of the more dangerous oozes. Our priority was Yellow> Black. When Green + Red in the mix we went for Green.

In more detail:

You can use an addon such as this one to set up the kill target ahead of time for the 6 possible combinations. We had (with 2 healers):

1. Black Purple Red <Yellow>

2. Blue Green Purple <Yellow>

3. [Black] Blue Purple <Yellow>

4. <Black> Blue Green Purple

5. Black Blue <Green> Red

6. Black <Green> Red Yellow

The 6th … (Black <Green> Red Yellow) is one of the hardest combinations. If you still kill Yellow in this combo you need to stay spread while close to boss while taking damage from red and green and the adds AND while having to do aoe damage to adds that are not stacked up… so… we killed Green, stacked up, aoe-ed the 1st set of adds, then the 2nd round of adds spawns at the same time with the next wave of slimes… we dpsed the adds a bit, then killed a slime, then finished of the adds just as a new round was beginning.

On the 3rd you got [Black] this means you can choose to kill Black to stand a better chance against the enrage timer.

Regarding Blue we used that trick with getting the mana void to 10% then when a new mana void would spawn we would kill the old one. However if you get blue then next round no blue… then you need to kill the mana void anyways because your healers can’t stand 2 rounds with no mana.
